Found this one on the intertubes.......

This isn't the best picture of me, but this was taken in November 2006 in San Francisco. It was a Burning Man event called Hookahdome. The charge was $25 to get in where you could smoke all the hookah you could smoke. I just did a search of the event on Google and found this. I can't believe the pics are still up there.

Since I was part of the entertainment, I got to smoke for free. This was definitely a good time. It was an all night event, but it got so crowded at 1am that we had to leave.

The entertainment was also plentiful from bellydancers, to firedancers to guys twirling cloth, to erotic entertainment which I wasn't told about. In fact, I thought that this was strictly a Middle Eastern event. I had absolutely no idea what I was in for.

The best thing about the event was that a photographer contacted us and wanted to take our pictures, so we got free pics out of it.

And the word of the day is..................

Hello Again My Lovelies..................

Have you guys ever heard of the word "Bromance" ? Below is the definition according to Urban Dictionary:

1. Bro-mance
the inseparable relationship between two or more heterosexual, often action-sports-participating, males. similar to the "hetero-life-mate", but based more on surf/skate/snow participation, party attendance and constant exchange of myspace comments and instant messages.

EXAMPLE: After a full night of sessioning street rails and drinking, dave and brian's bro-mance appears to be in full bloom.

The term is being used by younger men in their late teens, early twenties. I could never imagine a man over 30 using it.

In fact, the term is so popular, that MTV is doing a reality show called "Bromance" with a young man looking for a "bromance". In the previews he's choosing between a couple of dudes to be his new "go-to guy", Haha. What disgusted me the most was when he was shown eliminating people in the previews, some of the guys looked like they were about to cry.... WTF ???? What is this world coming to ???????? What is happening to our next generation of males ??????

It's the male version of "Paris Hilton: My New BFF" (where Paris was looking for a new best friend). I will watch this new show so I can hate it, haha. I will see if I can even make it past the first episode. I am a "Reality TV Whore" so I will at least watch the first episode.

I don't know about you, but this term annoys the hell out of me. I thought that the term BFF (stands for Best Freinds Forever) annoyed me. That doesn't even compare to this.

How could two straight guys ever equate their friendship with the word "romance"? How does this not sound wierd to other straight men ?

There is also another saying that annoys me "Bros before Hos" Haha.

Anyway, that's all for now, folks......

Bellydance Photos 2007

Hello There My Lovelies,

I was browsing online for a bellydance photographer that someone recommended and I came across the website for Rakkasah, one of the largest bellydance festivals in the country. I've danced there twice. Anywho, I was perusing the photos that were taken of the dancers, and lo and behold, there I was, and it turns out the photographer I was looking for was the one that took the pictures of us dancers! I didn't realize it was the same guy. These were taken in 2007.

This was the first time I danced at this fair as a solo. I danced in a troupe the year before. I designed the costume, and choreographed my moves. I had even chosen my stage name, which is Amira. It is Egyptian Arabic for "princess". The only thing I wasn't proud of was the weight I had gained. It crept up so slowly.

I will be trying to dance at the next Rakkasah in March if I can get a spot.

Enjoy !

Christmas is Over

Hello There My Lovelies,

Okay, so I am back in town from my little Christmas break.

My grandparents own an inn, and they let me stay in one of the rooms. It was a treat. The room was huge, with a big king sized bed and nice furniture. That part of the inn used to be my part of my great-grandmother's house. When she passed away 13 years ago, they tore down the entire interior of the house and rebuilt it into three different inn rooms.

I really enjoyed my time in the room, and slept like a baby.

More importantly, I enjoyed the time I spent with my grandma and grandpa. They are the most kind and loving people that I know. We had a nice Christmas dinner and talked during the day. I also got to talk to my dad and hear about how his town was snowed in.

My grandma never fails to tell me how much she loves me and always hugs me when I see her. It means a lot to me. I really lucked out when God made her my grandmother.
As I was leaving this morning, I found a note on the counter that my grandpa wrote to my grandma telling her how much he loves her and how lucky he is to have her. I thought it was the sweetest thing. I know that I probably shouldn't have read it, but it really touched my heart, and I almost cried. They aren't the type of couple that has to worry about compromise and sacrifice, because all they want to do is make the other person happy. They both give without expecting anything in return. I think that one of the keys to a happy marriage is not finding someone that will please you, rather finding someone that you want to please, and that will appreciate your efforts and reciprocate. Today my grandma told me how much she loves life and how she's excited as to what could happen tomorrow, and how she's having so much fun. She and my grandpa still work, which I think is great. I hope I don't end up retiring.

My grandma didn't meet my step-grandpa (who I refer to as my grandfather) until she was almost 50. The funny thing is that they met in marriage counseling when they were with their spouses. So when they finally did become a couple, they already knew all the "unfavorable characteristics" The funny thing is that my grandpa thought those "characteristics" were good things, haha.

They aproaching 90 and they act like they're still on their honeymoon. Many older couples are grouchy and argue with each other, but I have never seen my grandparents fight with each other. My grandma always tells me how she loves my grandpa.

My grandmother in Austria was like that too. My grandpa died when I was five of a heart attack, and she later found love with a man named Toni who was very kind to her. And they loved each other very much and always did everything they could to make the other happy. I used to be jealous of Toni, because I wanted her attention, but I grew to be more understanding as I got older.

She used to tell me how much she loved my grandpa, and how she found happiness with Toni. When she passed away, I received her prized jewelry set that my grandpa bought her, that she wore on special occasions. Now I get to wear it.

Anyway, I will stop here. If you still have grandparents, treasure them. They are very special.

Merry Christmas !

Merry Christmas My Lovelies.....................

Okay, so I am at my grandparent's house here in Northern Cali. I left yesterday morning and I was speeding. And consequently I was pulled over and written up. Yes, I was stupid to drive fast, but I was not the only one speeding. Trust me, everyone else around was too. Especially the man that cut me off to get to the exit while the cop was behind me. I was just the lucky one that got caught.

She told me to pull over and stop underneath the bridge (so she could write me up without getting wet). And what did I do ? I pulled up farther ahead by accident, and she got a little wet (it was sprinkling). She was not amused, and I realized my mistake soon after. I know it looked like I did that on purpose, but I was not really listening to her words, as I was still in shock for getting pulled over. And when I realized the mistake, I felt bad. She did mention that she told me stop under the bridge and that I wasn't listening to her. I said I was sorry, but I don't think she believed me. She could've asked me to pull back under the bridge with the loud speaker she used to pull me over, and I would've backed up for her. I wasn't blatantly trying to disobey her.

She also scolded me for the way I was driving, despite my appologies. So I looked at her and said that I was sorry, and that I really wanted to be as obedient as possible and that I wasn't trying to make her upset. I didn't try to talk her out of writing the ticket, I didn't give her a lame excuse, I didn't ask my brother next to me to hit on her. I just sat there and let her write me up in peace.

Luckily she only wrote me up for not using my headlights while it was raining.

Must suck for her to be out there on Xmas Eve writitng tickets in the rain. But after getting a ticket, my sympathy was washed away in the rain !! I also realized soon after that upon looking at her while she was scolding me, that she looked like my last ex-boyfriend's current girlfriend !

Interesting times...........

On another note, my brother and I have our grandma and grandpa all to ourselves this Christmas. It is a very rare occasion that this happens, but there are two weddings happening in the family, and many of them are preoccupied. Plus, my dad is pretty much snowed in in Oregon. I wish he were here with us.

But I do love hoarding the grandparents for the holidays. No complaints there. My grandma was telling me about her time as a child during the Great Depression as well as the Prohibition.

We also went to the Christmas Eve service last night at the church in town. It was packed last night, and it was nice to be there with family.

My grandma said it hadn't been this packed in such a long time. I just think that during these difficult economic times, people are finally getting back to what's really important. When our material possessions are taken away, we are left with our loved ones and realize how important they are too us, and can't be replaced.

Bellydance Performance

Hello There My Lovelies,

Just wanted to give a brief update and show you a couple of pics from my last performance. I am still waiting for the DVD to come out. I was happy with my makeup, but I am actively searcing for more tips on how to give myself fiercer Arabic eyes.

I haven't been able to add pics to my blog here for a while, but today I figured out how. Oh, and you can click on the pictures to enlarge them if you want.

I hope you enjoy :)

The Weather Outside is Frightful

Hello There My Lovelies,

Okay so I live in California. I know that the weather isn't as bad as it is in other parts of the country such as the Midwest for example. But it is still cold and rainy over here. The sun did not come out at all today. :(

I stayed in today at home. I watched The Break Up on TV with Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn. I liked that movie. It just goes to show that men and women think completely differently.

I also watched a couple of episodes of Law and Order.

Then I got my big ass on the treadmill and ran five miles. At one point I got cramps and had to walk it out, but at least I didn't give up. I felt much better after, because I was lazy all weekend.

Nothing much left to report. I am living a boring existence right now and loving it. I have been real busy the past few months with full time school, a full time job, an internship and dance lessons. It is nice to take a break for a little while until school starts.

Okay, time to log off for now.

Always

Hello There My Lovelies,

Today I was a total couch sloth and stayed in. My roommate is out of town for the weekend and I am still on winter vacation from school, so I decided to just watch all the TV shows I could. I should probably try and get in a workout tomorrow, but I probably won't. It's cold outside, I am on the verge of getting sick, my bones ache from the cold, and I am also single and not looking to impress anyone. I kind of like that right now and it feels kinda liberating. I am basically hibernating. I can always work on exercising off the hibernation fat later, haha. Bikini season isn't for a long ass time.

I watched the Las Vegas reruns, Carlos Mencia and the movie Along Came Polly. That movie was hilarious. Jennifer Anniston's character totally reminded me of myself.

On another note, with all the commercials, there is the one from Always, which is advertising their new maxi pads called Infinity. Their slogan is "Have a Happy Period." Haha, who came up with that slogan ? Shut the hell up ! You think some pad will just make all the pain go away? I forget which company it was, but one used to put little inspirational saying on the liners of the pads, so as you peel it off, you get to read little pearls of wisdom, as if all the new enlightenment will just make your cramps and bitchiness go away. I wonder if they still have those. I wouldn't know, I buy the generic stuff at Walmart. So now you all know a new bit of information about me.

Besides, those new pads are almost nine f**king dollars. Seriously, what is so special about it ? Every maxi pad commercial I've ever seen always has that glass full of liquid poured over the pad, which is kinda over dramatic. With this new Infinity commercial it shows waves (looked like ocean waves) of liquid with the pad right there to absorb it. Haha, as if to portray that women experience their flows in waves.

Okay, that is enough for now.

Winter Vacay !

Hello There My Lovelies,

Okay, so it's been a while since I've last posted. On Sunday I had a dance performance at my friend's house. I didn't realize just how many people would show up. I had a wonderful time. There was some good food too.

When I got there I ran into the girls I used to dance with in my old troupe. It was nice catching up with them. I also ran into my old dance teacher. If time allows it, I would love to get back to dancing with them.

I enjoyed performing, but unfortunately there were some mishaps. For starters the music would stop in certain places, and that was awkward. I also had some issues with my veil, as it got caught and my routine got cut a little short. I had to improvise a little as well. But I can't complain, because I got a lot of compliments. People loved it, and I was into it as well. My old troupe members said it was sexy, so who am I to complain.

My routine was about 5 minutes long. I left my costume simple on purpose. I like my costume to be simple, and my makeup to be dramatic. That way the audience's attention is on my face and on my moves, more than the costume. I spent a lot of time on my makeup and highlighted my eyes. I put on a lot of eyeshadow. I also love to wear a bindi. Makes me look more mysterious, and mystery is the key to keeping the audience on their toes.

Plus in this economy I don't have the money to splurge on costumes, which are very expensive. I have learned to mix and match what I have. I also have learned to find inexpensive, hot accessories.

I also watched the other dancers and loved their performances as well. There were a few people who really put their emotions into their performances. A dancer can have the choreography moves, but if she isn't passionate about it, it is hard to watch. I haven't performed since June of last year, and I had to dance a lot to get back on track.

What else.............

School has been out for almost a week, and I love being lazy. I have been vegging out in front of the TV. I supposed I should be getting my ass off the couch and doing something else. But I figure that if I am at home, I am not out driving nor am I out shopping. Therefore I am at home and keeping my money in the bank.

Anywho, that is all for now.

Dance

Hello There My Lovelies,

I absolutely love the fact that school is out and that I have a lot more free time in my schedule. I have more time to lounge around at home in front of the TV. I will also use this extra free time to network with temp agencies in the legal field. That, and hopefull work out more. I ran on the treadmill yesterday. I ran four miles without stopping. I was proud of myself. My motivation was my big ghettofabulous booty in the mirror.

Today I had dance practice because tomorrow is my performance. I am looking forward to it. I got my costume together and practiced with my makeup today. I had fun experimenting. Tomorrow I will also style my hair and paint my nails.

My costume is simple. I do own a professional costume with the heavy sequined beaded belt and bra. But I won't be wearing that. I will be wearing a pants outfit with a bra top and a coin belt. I will be dancing on the floor and don't want my skirt to get bunched up under my legs while I am on the floor.

I also like to make my makeup more dramatic. I like to really use a lot of eyeliner and dark eyeshadow, fake eyelashes and dark lipstick. With a simple costume and dramatic makeup, I feel that the audience will be more drawn to my face and my facial expressions. And I feel that is more powerful.

Anywho, time to log off for now :)

Too Much Information Survey !!

1.) If you knew one of your close friends was cheating on their significant other, would you get involved? (EX: Tell their SO, try to talk to your friend about it, etc) Why or why not?

NO, I WOULD NOT GET INVOLVED BECAUSE I AM FRIENDS WITH THE CLOSE FRIEND, NOT THE SIGNIFICANT OTHER. MY LOYALTY LIES WITH THE CLOSE FRIEND.

2.) If your SO was cheating on you and one of your close friends knew, would you want them to tell you? Why or why not?

YES, I WOULD RATHER BE IN TOUCH WITH REALITY THAN LIVE IN A FANTASY. I WOULD DO THE SAME FOR MY CLOSE FRIENDS, TOO.

3.) Have you ever stuffed your bra or underwear to make the size of your breasts or penis seem larger?

YEAH, WHEN I WAS TEN AND PLAYING DRESS UP................

4.) Would you sleep with a friend's significant other behind their back if it were guaranteed you'd never be caught?

NO WAY

5.) Do you think you are more intelligent than your significant other?

I DON'T HAVE AN SIGNIFICANT OTHER. HOWEVER, IN MY LAST RELATIONSHIP, I WILL SAY THAT I FEEL I WAS MORE INTELLIGENT THAN HE THOUGHT I WAS.

6.) Do you ever fantasize about cheating on your significant other? Are you ever tempted to really go through with it?

I HAVE NOT CHEATED ON ANYONE.

7.) Have you ever had cyber sex, text sex or phone sex with someone other than your significant other during a relationship?

AGAIN, THAT WOULD BE A NEGATIVO.

8.) Would you cheat on your significant other twice monthly for half a year to have all your debt permanently erased?

HAHA, I GOTTA SAY THAT IN THIS ECONOMY SUCH AN OFFER MAY APPEAR TO BE TEMPTING. BUT IF I AM HAPPILY INVOLVED WITH SOMEONE THERE IS NO WAY THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN.

BONUS! Have you ever fantasized about having sex with any blogger friends? Would you be daring enough to reveal five of them?

HAHA, CONSIDERING THAT FIVE OF MY READERS ARE FEMALE AND THE ONE MALE IS MY FATHER,THAT WOULD BE A DEFINITE NO !

Just Great

Hello All,

Okay, so I tried to sign on this blog, and the headings are in Japanese. I tried to look up my blog in a google search, hoping that I would get the ENGLISH version, but to no avail. Good thing I remember where to type in the password.

I thought I would be taking my last final now, at 9:30. Turns out, the final is actually at 11:30. While I wish I could just get it over with, at least I didn't show up too late. So in the mean time, I am just chilling out here in the library to waste more time.

My final is in Criminal Law, and I hear it is going to be a loooong final. Whatever, I don't care. I just want to get it over with. The good news is that the teacher let us bring a page of notes. I have learned to abbreviate and write real small. The bad news is my teacher is sneaky and always manages to sneak in concepts he never really mentioned, or he likes to throw in trick questions.

Thanks to Winivere, I have been introduced to all the other blogs out here. I have to say that I have been very entertained. I found some blogs where people write about their dating experiences/horrors and it does get juicy. Believe me, I wish I could do the same thing. I have many battle scars, hilarious moments, not to mention the stupid things I have done. I love to write and put it all out there, especially when I am just another nameless person on the internet with experiences.

However, my parents are up here, as well as people I know. Not to mention friends of my parents. Plus, it's kind of a wierd feeling when someone walks up to you and recalls something personal you've written. It feels like they're spying on you, when in actuality you put the information out there to see. So.... to all you out there that write openly and freely------ I salute you and enjoy reading about your experiences.

On another topic, I had another incident with my classmate. Not the same person I blogged about last time. A different person. This time it was the guy that I sit next to, and who I thought was nice. We studied together a lot and kind of had a healthy competition going on of who could get better grades.

Last week I came over to have coffee with him and help him study since he missed the study session and clarify concepts. I was talking to him about the tiff I had with our other friend who recommended to the teacher that she had concerns about us volunteering with the family law clinic in the future. I thought we were on the same page. In the middle of it, he looked at me and said "My God, you are so narcissistic. You think that the whole world revolves around you." I had never heard anyone else say that to me before, so I looked at him and asked him if he really meant that, to which he laughed and said "yeah."

So I smiled, told him it was nice talking to him, but that I had to get back to studying at home. I turned around and walked out that door without letting the door hit me where the Lord split me.

I really did not appreciate that comment. No one has ever told me remotely anything close to that before. Second of all, if he felt that way about me, he could've been nicer about it and joked about it. He's joked about me being naive, (when he's younger than me and lives at home) and I took that with a grain of salt.

But this comment came out of nowhere and he said it like he was so annoyed. I thought that I went out of my way to be nice this quarter. I took him and the other chick out to dinner, invited them over for study sessions and we worked together to study. I didn't know he felt that way about me. The truth was, I was having a hard day, and I was venting a little.

The funny thing is later he sent me a text to say that he didn't mean to offend, but he wasn't joking when he made that comment. He wasn't just playing around. You can tell the difference. It's not that hard.

I don't want to be around someone with that opinion of me, when I don't think his perception of me was accurate at all. It's different when someone makes a comment like that when there is truth to it. Then I can suck it up and look at myself closer. But I thought he was being rude.

Thank God the quarter is over today and that the next is my last. I really hope that I make new, nicer friends next quarter. I know they are out there.

10 Little Things that Make Me Happy in No Order

1.) Vegging out in front of the TV all day. I can watch show after show, and then get up to go to the kitchen and get something to eat. And then plant my ass back on the couch. I never really got to do this as a kid, so I do it now and still haven't taken it for granted.

2.) Watching the most useless, sinful TV shows such as Desperate Housewives, Paris Hilton's BFF, Real Housewives of the OC and 50 Cent's Show on MTV.

3.) Writing useless tidbits of information in my blog. I like that I am not writing to accomplish anything, rather just writing just for the hell of it. Going back in rereading it a couple of years later is fun.

4.) I love having my days off to myself. There is no one telling me what to do or telling me how to spend my time.

5.) Having my own bathroom.

6.) Having complete control over my finances and paying my bills. If I wanted to spend money on something ridiculous, I could do it and not have to answer to anyone.

7.) I love spending my money on frivilous things once in a while. Once in a while (not always, of course) you need to reward yourself if you can.

7.) Knowing that while I may be single, I can take care of myself. Having someone special in my life would be icing on the cake, not a necessity.

8.) My skeptical mind and questioning nature. I like to read the fine print and disect contracts and find the catches. My dad taught me early on that there is nothing out there that is absolutely free. If it's given to you, there is always some sort of expectation.

9.) The freedom to think how I want.

10.) My wonderful grandmothers. Even though my mom's mother passed away a couple of years ago and I miss her, I am not sad when I think about her. I am just happy that I got to know her.

My dad's mother is equally special, and I was thrilled to see her on Thanksgiving. I will go and see her on Christmas too. I am happy that I realized how precious they are early on and got to enjoy their company.

A New Reader

Hello There My Lovelies,

I noticed that I have a new reader here on my blog, Myra. Welcome !! I always appreciate any new readers.

Today I had dance practice, but I wasn't really feeling my routine. I just wasn't in the mood, but I pulled myself together and danced anyway. I was supposed to go to my bellydance class yesterday, but I opted to veg out all day in front of the TV in my pajamas instead. I would've done the same thing all over again this morning, but my roommate was watching football all day so I decided not to. Instead I organized my room and bathroom and did laundry. I consolidated all my stuff in the bathroom. I feel better.

There is a major difference between a guy's bathroom and a girl's bathroom. Being a female, I have all my makeup, perfume collection, bellydance glitter collection, medicine, feminine products, soaps, lotions, anti-aging cream, facial washes and the list just goes on, not to mention all the stuff for my hair in my bathroom. I didn't realize just how much shit there is crammed into my drawers. I feel so lucky to have my own bathroom now. It makes me happy. I haven't had my own bathroom for years, not even when I was living in Spain.

If you look at my roommate's bathroom (he's a dude) there is a clean counter with a toothbrush and maybe some hair gel or deodorant. Same thing with my last roommate. My old roommate had a toothbrush, soap, hair gel and shaving gel while I hogged the other side of the wall and stored everything else in my room.

I wonder about the dynamics of the bathroom for a married couple. I read an article where the husband usually fights to have a small space in the medicine cabinet while the wife occupies every other space and still attempts to invade his small space in the medicine cabinet. I hate to say it, but that is the type of wife I would be, haha.

Anywho, time to go and finish some homework. Classes are officially over at school, but my project is still due tomorrow and I will have a difficult midterm on Friday.

Ciao :)

School Drama

Hello There My Lovelies.......

I am really tired. Yesterday I had some drama at school. You know, school was the one thing that I felt I was in total control of. It was the one thing that I love and that is fun with people that want to learn and no drama. Boy was I wrong. Yesterday was the last day of class, and just when I was about to think that I was thankful for the wonderful stress-free quarter........ Two things happen.

1.) My teacher who assigned us a huge project in my Family Law class was being sarcastic and rude to us. For the project we are doing a divorce for a couple with no children. We have a huge project, he didn't cover all the bases, and when we all asked him questions he answered almost all of our questions in a sarcastic tone. It was really rude, and I was actually pissed off, which is very rare. It's a huge portion of our grade, we have no text book to consult, and he won't let us talk to our classmates. I can't even ask my classmate next to me without the teacher getting his shorts in a twist.

So frustrating, and I really hate it when he is condescending and treating us all like we're stupid. I am not a fucking lawyer, and of course this is difficult. His response to most of our questions was " Figure it out" or "Use your brain." The problem with that is knowing him, he is a picky grader and will grade harsh.

2.) I made friends with a girl next to me. We recently have gotten to know each other and I invited her out a couple of times to study. She and the teacher are best buds. Normally I wouldn't care. But I recently found out that the teacher started asking her opinions about me. I friggin' hate that. I don't want to be talked about outside of the classroom. He mentioned to her that he was suspicious about my project and that he would scrutinize it, because he saw me talking to another classmate next to me about the project. What the hell is he talking to my classmate about me for ? She is my classmate, a peer, not his aide. I don't care if they are friends, but leave me out of it.

I marched my ass straight to his office after class and made it clear that I don't cheat, I do my own work, and that I am a better student than that. We worked it out, but I hate having to defend myself like that. I like the law too much to cheat. I am stubborn and have my own ideas and line of reasoning and don't feel a need to cheat.

Another thing that pissed me off is that he was thinking about forming a Family Law clinic. I was interested and talked to the teacher about it. For some reason, my teacher asked this chick who I thought was my friend, what she thought about me in volunteering in the clinic. Was she a friend and giving me a recommendation ? Hell no, because that would be the nice, friendly thing to do. Instead, she had the balls to tell my teacher that she had "concerns" about me. Apparently she didn't think that I have enough life experience to go into it. She felt that I would need some easing into. Because there are heavy subject matters such as divorce or possible domestic violence.

She doesn't know me. I think I am perfectly capable in dealing with matters in family law. I know that I am not as old as she (in her fifties) and that I am not full of wisdom. But, I have volunteered in immigration law where the subject matter was worse because I was dealing with immigrant women that were beaten, threatened and whose children were in many cases victimized by the bastards that harmed them. It was difficult subject matter to deal with it, but I handled it, and I did a good job. The attorneys I volunteered for were happy with me, and said that they would give me a good reference. I may not be the ultimate pearl of wisdom, but I do have a heart and a desire to learn about the law and help defend people who are defenseless and have no where to go. And that is really all you need to volunteer in my opinion.

Did my "friend" know about this ? No, because she didn't get to know me that well. Because I didn't feel the need to talk about it. Because I never thought she would actually talk about my "abilities" to my teacher without getting the whole picture. Why is my teacher consulting her ? Why does he think she knows me, when we've only been "friends" for less than a month.

It really got under my skin for her to think that I am not strong enough and that I would need hand holding. I don't even care if she had good intentions, that was so not cool. I am still pissed.

She got upset at me for not understanding her "good intentions." She got so mad when I kept talking to her about it that she yelled at me to back off. I was telling her that she didn't know me and my abilities and she was offended that I couldn't see that she was trying to "help" me.

Why did she feel the need to step in like that ? Aren't classmates supposed to help each other out ? I like to help my classmates and bond over the class. I've volunteered for a couple of places and gotten to know a few people. I gladly recommend my classmates to my former supervisors there. To be honest, sometimes I have my doubts about some of the classmates. But I don't voice them, because it's volunteer work and everyone has the right to volunteer, and besides, I really don't know their work ethic or what they're capable of. And most of all, it's not my place to day anything anyway. The economy is shitty, we all need all the legal experience we can get, so we should be helping each other out.

But the good news is that my final is next week, and then I only have a couple of more months to go before I am out of there for good with my certificate. Then I can venture out into the professional world. I know that there will be vicious/catty people out there too, moreso than my class, but at least I will be bringing home a better paycheck at the end of the day.

Legal ad on Craig's List

Hello All,

Below is an ad for an Admin Assistant in a law firm. Just look at this gem's writing skills. I bet he is the sole practitioner. Passing the bar in California is no easy feat and attorneys are expected to have good writing skills. Especially since if you're an attorney, you are responsible for everything your paralegal or assistant does, especially when she messes up.

I find it interesting that he demands his future office bitch to have excellent writing skills, yet he can't be bothered to capitalize or use correct punctuation. The worst part of it is his spelling. He couldn't even spell Word Perfect.

The sad thing is that with the economy like this, he can demand a top notch person and probably even get it and pay her peanuts.

My friend is going to school to get her paralegal certificate. She told me how she went to an interview recently and the attorney basically wanted her to work for free. Funny how she wasn't told that before. The attorney called it "volunteer experience" and that in return she would get a "good reference." Haha. The sad thing is that someone will actually do it, especially in this economy.

I worked/volunteered for free in exchange for a good reference, but I was volunteering for a place that ran off of private donations. I wasn't fattening someone's wallet, rather volunteering for the community for people that couldn't afford an attorney. Plus, the work I did was rewarding. I wouldn't do such a thing for a private person.

SO..... HERE IS THE AD.........

sole practitioner seeks administrative assistant, to work as independent contractor, 30-35 hours per week. Tasks include preparation of correspondence, legal documents and court pleadings, filing, and general office duties.

Requirements: ability to work independently; proficiency in Word Perfert, excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and organization; positive attitude and good client relations.

Please send resume and cover letter with salary requirements.

Compensation: comeasurate with exeperience

Haha, he requires that I have good "client relations". I mean, yeah, I am perfectly capable of developing good relationships with clients in a professional setting. But having good relations with clients is a whole different matter and I wouldn't be prepared for that, and depending on what kind of law this guy practices, especially if we were defending a guy on trial for a heinous crime or a guy going through a rough divorce, or some dude awaiting deportation. No relations there............

I need to get out more..............

Maria Antoinette Award

Hello There My Lovelies,

I just found out that my friend Winivere chose me for the Maria Antoinette award, apparently for being real. I thought that was nice. While I was living in Barcelona in 2005 my AOL journal was chosen for Journal of the Week. Through that I met my friend Henry who I still keep in contact with.

Winivere nominated other people too on her list. One of them was Mike, whose link is
http://goingsaneinacrazyworld.blogspot.com/

I am mentioning it because he talks about his dating experiences and has another blog where he exposes the ridiculous dating ads he comes across. I find his blogs to be hilarious and can relate. The dating world is really a jungle. It is hard enough when you are busy or work long hours and simply have no time to go out. It's worse when you go online. When you are online, you aren't dealing with people, rather you're dealing ads. Because it's less personal up front, people are more disposable. Plus the majority of people on the internet really aren't that serious anyway about looking for a relationship
.
I am taking a break for a while for few reasons. The first reason is that I am way too busy. I don't really have nights off so that is a problem.

My second reason is because if I don't take a break and chill for a while, I feel that I will fall into the category of angry women that hate and bash men and I just don't want to be that person. I feel that when it rains, it pours, so better to just sit out and wait until the storm is over.

My third reason is because I feel that I owe it to myself to take some time off and take a hard look at myself and find out who I really am, and what I really want for myself and in a relationship. It is a lot to think about and I certainly won't get answers overnight.

I used to have a private blog on AOL where I talked about my dating experiences and feelings right after my breakup. It was fun while I was doing it, but when I transferred my AOL journal over here, I had to make it public for a while to transfer all my entries. I wasn't about to do that.

Anyway, so thanks Win for chosing me for the award. :)

What I am Thankful For

Hello All,

Just a quick update. I spent Thanksgiving with my dad and his side of the family. I drove up to Mendocino, which is normally a 3 and a half hour drive with no traffic. I spent over 7 hours on the road. Partly because I left in the afternoon. It wouldn't have been so bad if I had left early. BUT, I did have school so I had to leave later.

This year I was simply thankful for the fact that I got to spend Thanksgiving with my family and see everyone. I only see my dad once a year, so it was nice to see him again. I cherish every time I see my grandma and grandpa.

This year on Thanksgiving we gathered in a circle and toasted over champagne as to what we were thankful for. I was just happy to see my family. I was also thankful for the fact that I still have a job and mu health, and that I have a car and a roof over my head. Beyond that I really can't ask for much more.

Yesterday was my birthday. I turned 28. I had this journal just after I turned 23 ad its interesting to see how I've changed in the course of 5 years. I had a nice bday yesterday. My mom and my friends took me out to dinner and I even got gifts. I am thrilled that I got gifts, especially in this economy.

Anyway, not much else to report except that this is the last week of school and next week will be finals. This week will no doubt be stressful since the finals are expected to be grueling. I also have a couple of projects to crap out. Wish me luck.
